The
Valley Hope Association
The Valley Hope Association is a nationally-recognized, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality chemical dependency treatment services at an affordable price.
We started in a leased building on the campus of a state hospital in Norton, KS in August, 1967. Valley Hope now operates treatment centers in seven states -- Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Corporate Office
Our corporate office is located in Norton, Kansas and can be reached directly by calling (785) 877-5111
We offer a proven treatment program with the focus on individual recovery. All of our residential centers and outpatient facilities are JCAHO accredited or state-licensed. Professional staff direct an individualized treatment plan grounded in 12-step philosophy with a strong emphasis on family participation, spirituality (nondenominational), and continuing care placement. Rates for our services are affordable enough that many individuals choose to pay for their own treatment. Our services are recognized and accepted by most insurance companies and managed care organizations.
Mission Statement
Our Mission is "to provide a quality continuum of comprehensive treatment and related services, in a caring atmosphere and at a reasonable price, for all people experiencing problems with alcohol or other drug use. The purpose of providing those services is to improve the quality of life of those receiving services, as measured by abstinence from alcohol and other involved substances, as well as by increased life satisfaction, improved family relationships, marital stability, job and career performance, and financial stability."
This Mission may be pursued in any geographic location, limited only by need and Valley Hope's ability to respond to that need.
Chemical Dependency Counselor Training
If you are interested in becoming a professional chemical dependency treatment counselor, the Valley Hope Association has an unique opportunity for you. Valley Hope has reinstated the Counselor Training Program which was originated in 1973. We are now seeking serious applicants for upcoming classes. The curriculum of this updated program closely follows the original Training Program but is now taught "on-line" enabling trainees to be placed in various Valley Hope centers across our seven-state network. This also allows instructors to originate their class from different locations.
Counselor trainees in the one-year program are full-time employees and receive compensation and limited benefits. They live in the community and attend the classes and practicum work at the center to which they are assigned. Upon successful completion, the Association will offer appropriate positions, if available, within the Valley Hope organization. Trainees are obligated to remain at the center in which they trained unless there is no position available.
The Valley Hope Counselor Training program is accredited by Colby Community College at Colby, Kansas. Trainees may receive college credits by enrolling at Colby College and completing 15 hours of core courses. Colby College may accept other accredited hours or the courses may be taken by correspondence. A combination of the Valley Hope hours and the Colby College classes can result in an associate's degree. Counselor Training classes prepare the individual in the "Twelve Core Functions" , generally accepted as tools for chemical dependency counselor certification.
